INTRODUCE YOURSELF ON THE FIRST DAY OF WORK
How to introduce yourself on the first day of work?If you are looking for some ideas, here are some tips for you.
Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. You're new and it's better to do something right the first time than have to do it again. Nobody expects you to know everything.
Smile a lot and be as friendly as possible to everyone you meet –no matter what their position is or how important they are! Use your lunch hours to get together with your co-workers. Get to know them and their interests.
Pay attention to the rumours, but don't join them. You don't want to be thought as a gossip.
Don't complain about your boss, any co-workers, or the job you did before. Continue to arrive early and don't rush out of the door at the end of the day.
Keep a positive attitude and an open mind. Your life has changed and you will get used to it.

They still hadn't come when, just before noon, a man eating in our restaurant wanted a cake. I suggested that I run to the bakery next door to get some, and Johnny readily agreed. Going out of our back door, I knocked on the back door of the bakery and bought a few from the baker's helper. That cake was the only one we sold all day.
After closing, Johnny and I sat discussing things with my daughter, who had been out from serving. "An interesting thing happened just before noon," she said. "The owner of the bakery next door came in and ordered a cake of ours. She wanted to compare it with hers."
We know from the passage that ______.

So far few details have been reported, but it is feared that at least twenty people lost their lives, among them the pilot, who was killed instantly. The local ambulances and firemen were on the scene within minutes of the crash, but additional help had to be rushed from other areas.
Mr. Lesilie Collins, one of the survivors, told our reporter, "We passengers noticed the engines were making a funny noise. Of course we couldn't see anything because of the fog, but the pilot said there was nothing to worry about. The next thing we know, the engines went dead. There was a rushing noise--and after that I don’t remember any more."
Mr. Collins is now in hospital, being treated for minor injuries. We will be bringing you further news of the crash as we receive it. In the meantime relatives are asked to ring 02-3457211 for information.
